Krystin Gollihue Nominated for NCSU Equity for Women Award
The Institute’s very own Krystin Gollihue attended the 2017 Sisterhood Dinner as a student nominee for the Equity for Women Award! The Sisterhood Dinner is an annual dinner reception hosted by the NC State Council on the Status of Women. The dinner celebrates the contributions and accomplishments of NC State women. During the reception the Equity for Women Award is presented to one faculty, staff and student nominee. This years theme was “Empowering Women Together”.
Krystin is the Graduate Editor of the Philanthropy Journal at the NC State Institute for Nonprofits. Since joining in 2015, Krystin has become an irreplaceable member of the Institute for Nonprofits team. Additionally, she is a Graduate Assistant in the Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media department. Within her department she holds a number of positions including Secretary of the CRDM Student Association, representative of the CRDM Graduate Association, and Vice President of the Rhetoric Society of America- NCSU Chapter. Krystin’s commendable service across the NC State community focuses on ways that women can be supported both emotionally and professionally. Krystin has persisted in her commitment to mentorship by organizing groups and conversations within CRDM on how to better support intersectional work in academia. Her work also focuses on revealing the ways that critical making and technology studies have their historical foundations within communities of working-class women and women of color. The Institute for Nonprofits is proud to be represented by change-makers like Krystin.
Institute staff members Dr. Rich Clerkin, Christine Howell, Sandy Cyr, Jack Ahern and Victoria Jeter attended Monday nights reception alongside Krystin in support of her nomination. The evening consisted of a silent auction to benefit the NC State Women’s Center, a dinner buffet, keynote speaker, and presentation of the Equity for Women Awards. The 2017 Sisterhood Dinner was a beautiful way to honor the admirable work that women across the NC State community have achieved.
