The Institute for Nonprofits Volunteers at the Diaper Bank of NC

September 11, 2001 is a day in the nation’s history that will live in infamy. The nation mourned the tragedy in New York City, and many people have turned this day of sadness into a day of service. On the 17th anniversary of 9/11, the staff at the Institute for Nonprofits decided to participate in the day of service by volunteering  at the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that provides diapers to families with babies living in poverty. According to the organization’s website, its mission is to improve access to personal hygiene products, distribute basic needs through community partners, and create a diaper bank model that can be adopted by all counties in North Carolina. The Diaper Bank distributes over 200,000 diapers per month to families across the state. The staff at the Institute helped the Diaper Bank of North Carolina fulfill its mission by wrapping and packaging diapers for families in need. As a result of the volunteers help, 33,000 diapers were wrapped, and those diapers will be used to assist 1,320 babies.
