ACCES Graduation
Congratulations ACCES graduates! Twelve Habitat for Humanity affiliate leaders from across the country were back in Raleigh for three days to complete their leadership training in the Institute for Nonprofit’s Achieving Collaborative Capacity for Executive Success (ACCES) program.
ACCES develops adaptive leaders that seek to improve themselves and their organizations, which enable Habitat to be successful in working towards their bold vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
During this five-month program the leaders actively participate in weekly webinars bookended with three days at NC State to meet and bond with each other. Faculty instructors guide participant learning about adaptive leadership and appreciative inquiry as tools to enhance their capacity at the individual, organizational, and community level. Assigned executive coaches help transfer this learning to practice and provide support for participants as they tackle their particular adaptive challenges.
One participant had this to say about their leadership experience, “I have been with Habitat for over 12 years and have attended many conferences, seminars, retreats, and training events. The ACCES program is, without a doubt, the best event I have attended.”
This year’s on-campus activities brought a special guest, Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. Reckford provided the keynote speech at the commencement ceremonies on Friday, January 15th. He praised these leaders for making the time in their busy schedules, and for their affiliates’ financial commitment, to invest in themselves, their affiliates, and their communities.
“These 12 leaders have left us with more knowledge, skills, and tools than when they came. This, and the sustainability of a cohort of supportive colleagues will allow these individuals, and affiliates to have high impact in their work and in their communities,” said Christine Howell, the Program Manager for ACCES.
ACCES was developed in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International as a way to provide leadership training for affiliate executives. To learn more about ACCES and how it can be customized to your nonprofit organization click here.
